The Directorate of Quality Assurance and Performance Management was constituted in 2011 as part of an objective framework for the establishment of Quality Assurance structures in Maseno University. The main focus was creation of a quality assurance culture within the University that would increase Maseno University’s competitiveness in a globally competitive education sector, as a statutory requirement and also as part of the Kenya Vision 2030 flagship projects aimed at guaranteeing sustainable development


In order to attain these stated objectives, it is worth noting that Maseno University is committed to ensuring the development of effective Quality Assurance systems to enhance access to quality University education, implement the Service Delivery Charter and monitor adherence to statutory obligations including the University’s Performance Contract with the Government.

After the award of ISO 9001:2015 Certification, every effort has been made to maintain adherence to the provisions and requirements of the ISO standards. Compliance is continuously monitored through Internal Audits and Surveillance Audits.


 

 

The mandate of the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Performance Management includes:

  •          Ensuring compliance with quality standards in service delivery within the University.
  •          Periodically determining and documenting relevance of academic programmes with stakeholder requirements through review of curriculum
  •          Monitoring of University processes with a view to improving areas of shortcoming
  •          Implementing Quality Management Systems in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards
  •          Developing and regularly reviewing frameworks and guidelines for performance management including generating of performance indicators, target setting and coordination of review of university performance contracts
